Teaching Assistant Wins Lottery for the Third Time (Human Interest)
A mother-of-four and dedicated teaching assistant from the UK has won a share of a lottery prize for the third time, defying astronomical odds and leaving her feeling "numb and in disbelief."
Chantelle Riley, 47, from Castle Bromwich in the West Midlands, UK, was one of 18 neighbours to share a £1 million prize in the People’s Postcode Lottery.
🍀 A Run of Unprecedented Luck
The £50,000 win marks Chantelle's largest prize to date and her third significant lottery success while playing the People's Postcode Lottery:
First Win (2014): She previously scooped £14,221.
Second Win (2023): She won again, banking £1,078.
Third Win (2025):
Her latest win of £50,000 brings her total winnings from the lottery to over £65,000.
Chantelle, who works at a special educational needs school, noted that her first two wins came from a postcode literally across the road from her current address, which she has continued to play. Her sister, after the second win, had joked that Chantelle had "no chance" of winning again in the area—a comment Chantelle noted her sister is now "kicking herself" over.
💰 Plans for the Winnings
The mother-of-four is planning to use her unexpected windfall to secure her family's future, as well as celebrate a new arrival.
Buying Her Home: Chantelle intends to use the money to purchase the rented home where she has lived for the last six years, securing her housing for the long term.
Spoiling the Grandchild: She plans to spoil her first grandchild, who is due next month in December.
Bonus Win: Chantelle also convinced her partner to sign up for the lottery a few months ago, meaning he also won £50,000, along with 16 other neighbours in the winning street.
The staggering run of luck has been confirmed by the lottery operator, who stated that multiple wins are entirely possible as "wins occur randomly—without a pattern and by chance."
